Good-Bye To Houston

Ugh, it's late and I should be sleeping...unpacking MORE boxes...organizing another room or something OTHER than blogging. However, here I am, what can I say?

Well, I will try to catch you up to speed in a nutshell since the last post:
We witnessed somewhat of a miracle as we managed to sell our house during a recession and AFTER all the new guidelines for the lending/housing industry took place. It was quite the roller coaster of events and I'm pretty much glad to be done with it all!

We found a cute place to rent in Utah for awhile until Jed figures out his new schedule and what not and we figure out a convenient place for us to live. And since we sold our house a tad quicker than we thought, me and the kids moved to Utah early while Jed is still in H-town until the end of the month. Thanks Talbot's for your awesome hospitality...if Jed gets to be too much to handle, give me a call or just give him more chores! ;)

I've never handled moving very well. I've relocated 3 times now and pretty much every time it's just as emotional as the last move. I think this one hit me a bit harder though. Five out of the seven years Jed and I will have been married (this weekend) have been spent living in Houston. We bought our first home in Houston and had our first 2 kids there. So needless to say it was a little difficult to say good-bye to our first house. I was actually doing okay until I was checking the kids' rooms one last time for anything left in them and that's pretty much when it all went downhill. It was then that I fully realized how many memories we had there in that house.

We also had some FABULOUS friends there in Houston. Makenzi misses her BFF Sevy something terrible! She asks to go play at her house every day or to go to the water park and play and of course expects to see her at church when we get there. The Ormson's have been completely awesome and frankly we are upset with them for taking FOUR years to GET to Houston! :)

The Talbot's too, took their sweet time getting to Houston however we are glad that they came! We've had some majorly fun game nights and pretty much laughed many times and made jokes at their expense! They will never be able to be the first couple to leave a game night again...at least w/o comments! awww, they are such good sports!

The Malnar's have been so fun to have live so close as well! Amanda has the BEST sense of humor and is willing to help out wherever she can! Keedan is the cutest little boy and Makenzi enjoyed playing with him...it just took her about 30 mins to warm up to him! ;)

Amanda & Keedan

The branch has been an experience for us. It has been quite the adventure and we are so thankful for the many, many experiences we had to serve and be a part of this little Branch that we so affectionately called our "twig". There were some fabulous members in the branch that made it a great place to go. It will be a bit of an adjustment I think for us to attend a ward again.
This is Sis. Lou whom I just ADORE! She is just the sweetest lady!

Here are the Boston girls! They are a fun bunch! Never a dull moment with them :)

Here's most of our Branch at a Memorial Day BBQ...I'm so going to miss their smoked brisket!

Sister Derrick and Sister Walker, both FABULOUS ladies!!

We'll definitely miss our favorite places to eat like Gringo's and the Pearland "Chickalay", FreeBirds and Silverlake Hunan. Mmmm all those places were sooo yummy!

Eating at "Chickalay" and enjoying their ice cream!

And...the three stooges!

I've missed the water parks quite desperately! And I've missed WHO we went to the water park with. Makenzi always had so much fun running around in the water and playing and LOVED the teeter-totter. Lucky for her, our new neighborhood has a new place to play of which we have already frequented and it gets the Kenzi stamp of approval! It's a must do pretty much every day!

So it's pretty much been an emotional month for me. I tend to get sentimental about things and add that to stress and not so much sleep, it doesn't make for a great combination! ;) However, and it's a big "however", we are really excited to be in Utah where we can be by our families and the kids can play with their cousins. It is wonderful to have the support system of family nearby. We are excited for Jed to be all done with his training and for him to begin his new job! It's hard to believe that the time has actually arrived!

So good-by for now Houston. It's been a crazy good five years there. We've lived through our last hurricane season and I couldn't be happier! ;)

Great post guys! I know it has been a little emotional for you. Change is always hard. Take your time getting adjusted to life in Utah. It's all good! Here's to the memories you made in H-town and to many, many more made in O-town! :) Love ya girl! Can't wait to see you soon!! xoxo

awwww honey, now I am crying. I have never lived anywhere else but in Brigham City, so it has been very hard for me to 'understand' what you are going through, I mean, like...why would Jen be upset...at all, she is coming home!!! After reading your words however, I get the picture. It was your first home and it is where you have spent the longest time being married. You did make so many fabulous friends and your having to leave them behind has to be very hard. And then to have to move into your home by yourself while Jed finishes up his job...AND be the parent to those two babies all by yourself...AND take care of all of the 'necessary' move-in problems all by yourself....crap, now I am depressed!! hahahahaha, I am kidding of course. I raised a brilliant resilient daughter (even if she is emotional) and you will be jesst fine. After all you have your brother right there and Natie isn't too far away and well we are only a stone throw away....huugggzz and WELCOME HOME SWEET THING!!!

I hope your staying sane up in Utah by yourself. Luckily your family is nearby to help with the little ones.
We had to give talks today in church and it was sooooooooooo different than the "twig". I was so nervous I thought I was going to be sick, but thankfully all was well :)
Best Wishes to you and your family!

The twig definitely misses you guys. Church is really weird now. Sevy is almost quiet, but all alone during Primary. That's what breaks my heart there. I wanted to cry on Saturday night. We were so bored and friendless. This whole single-parenthood game would have worked a lot better if you guys stayed in Texas and Jed had to go to Utah. Just saying . . . Let us know next time you want to skype, or call whenever. We are always available! I'm teaching Step/sculpt again on Wednesday. It should make me nice and sore for my flight on Thursday! Okay, now this is like an email instead of a comment. Later!
