It seems the last couple of weeks in church there have been some awesome lessons, talks, messages etc. Maybe it’s just that I’m finally able to sit and LISTEN to the lessons, etc now that I don’t have a toddler in my lap that I’m trying to keep quiet (well for a little bit anyway, until the new little one arrives!). It’s nice to actually be able to open my scriptures and read along and take in the all the comments and insight that everyone has to offer.
Well, this past Sunday was no exception. Our (awesome) bishop gave our lesson in Relief Society on the topic of Lehi’s dream. Having just read about Lehi’s dream in the Book of Mormon I felt this instant connection with what he was discussing. He had this picture displayed throughout his lesson giving us a visual as he instructed:
(Beautiful, isn’t it?)
I love the story of Lehi’s dream. I love how no matter what stage you are in life this story is always applicable! I love the thought of the rod and holding to it to help keep you on the “straight and narrow” path. As one sister mentioned, you can’t just stand idle NEXT to the rod, you have to be ACTIVELY holding on to it. It’s so true in life, we can’t just be idle in how we are living, we have to be active and take an active role in being a mom, a dad, brother, sister, etc. So as discussed in our lesson, that’s my challenge to myself: to take a more active approach to life. Being a more active mom involved in what the kiddos are doing, being THERE and not just being AWARE Ü
The other challenge? Well, bishop also challenged us to read the Book of Mormon in its entirety by the end of the year. A challenge just like President Hinckley did years ago. I’m all for it! Ü

#1-LOVE the new look over here!! You feeling ok??? ;)
#2-That is a stunning picture. Would love to see a bigger one up close. What a great couple of challenges. I love the thought of being THERE and not just being AWARE. I have been trying to do that a little more lately. It's a nice and very much welcome change of attitude. Hope I can keep it up. Good luck with reading the BofM by the end of the year. That's a tough challenge, but you will do it I know! It will be some good reading material when you are up feeding in the night huh?
#3-Why have I not talked to you this week yet? What in the world?
xoxo
I would agree - our bishop is AwEsOmE:) It was fun reading your insight- I think you are incredible. We need to hang out more - I love your spunk and example.
