Up and Running

Yay!!! We have power!!! Last night on our way to a gas station we received a text from some friends of ours that live pretty close to us letting us know that they just got power. So we went back to the house to see if we could be so lucky. Low and behold, there was light! I don't think I've ever been so excited to see light in my house, it had been 5 days! Everything we had heard and checked said that our area wouldn't be done until after next Monday!!!! So after hearing this we were feeling pretty deflated and bummed about the news, we were prepping ourselves to stay at a friend's place for the next 3 nights...no need to do it now! Yay!

We will forever be grateful for our friends that offered up their homes and ammenities to us while we had no water or power! I'm not sure what we would've done. You couldn't find a hotel closer than San Antonio! We feel very blessed to have had a place to go during the aftermath of Ike.

Here's some pictures I managed to take during all the craziness:
Our lovely fence
More of our lovely fence
Some trees in our community
Lots and lots of water and more neighbors with their fences down

A lot of home with damaged rooftops needing tarps
We had a bbq with our neighbors to grill up all the meat we were going to lose. Good times.
Keedan and Kenzi
This is what Kenzi's diet consisted of most of that day: Cheetos and more Cheetos
Obviously we've had to spend A LOT of time on our cell phones. Kenzi didn't miss a beat and got in touch with all her "contacts" as well, letting them know we were all OK!

I am SOOO glad to be back home and back in my own bed! Now it's time to get to cleaning! We need to finish drying out our carpet in the kids' rooms, lots of laundry, scrub down the fridge, vacuum, mop, etc!!! Lots on the To-do list today and I'm actually looking forward to getting it done!!! Thanks again to everyone that sent e-mails or left comments on the blog. Your thoughts and prayers were certainly felt during this CRAZY storm!!! I hope to not have to go through another one!!!!

I'm glad you guys are ok and getting back to normal. Sounds like you were prepared though. Good use of you meat. Chad and I want to get a generator to power our freezer in case of long power outages. That was a long time to go without power! Kenzi is so cute with her cell phone.

We hope you guys are having an easier time agreeing on a name than we are. Your little girl is a cutie! Keep in touch. Jake, Heather, Abbey, and the unnamed boy.
